The Congregation of the Mission is a religious of St. Vincent de Paul of 1625 France. It is a community of catholic priests and brothers who live community life, dedicating their entire life to the service of the poor.
In this regard, the mission of the Congregation of the Mission is a continuation of the mission and vision of St. Vincent de Paul was called to the evangelization of the poor. Like Jesus, he shared in the anointing of the Spirit to proclaim the good news to the poor, to proclaim freedom for prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind. Thus, we seek to follow in the footsteps of Christ, evangelizer of the poor. To serve the poor effectively, Vincentian Fathers and Brothers help in the formation of clergy and laity to enable them to participate more fully in the evangelization of the poor.
They work in seminaries as formators and seminary educators, and also preach retreats for the clergy; all in a bid to deliver to the Church priests with zeal and passion for salvation of the Poor.
They engage in any apostolate that has the material and spiritual welfare of the poor as aims. The identity of the priests and brothers of the Mission is a preferential option for the poor. It is this fundamental option for the poor and the marginalized that drive their life and mission. The love of Christ urges them on.
