(Memorial Feast of St. Leo the Great, Pope and Doctor of the Church).

Today, the church celebrates the memorial of St. Leo the Great, Pope and Doctor of the church. A man who serve the church with all sincerity of heart, a man who confronted dangerous authorities who persecuted the church. Even with the persecution, Pope Leo the Great’s words gave courage to many Christians in living up the faith.
Today, in the Gospel of Lk.17:1-6, Jesus tells us, “That it would be better for him if a milestone is hung around his neck and he were cast into the sea, than if he causes another to sin”. Brethren, how many times have we led others into occasions of sin. Often times we lead people astray without knowing it especially by our way of life, by the way we speak in public areas, how many have we led people astray from the body of Christ?
Using the life of St. Leo the Great, whom we celebrate today, who showed a good example by proclaiming the gospel of Christ by his great teachings and his deeds. Teachings that drew people closer to God. We are all challenged as Christians today, by the life of St. Leo the Great, to proclaimed Christ message to the world by the examples of our lives.
Jesus is calling us today to repentance, to use our lives to proclaim the gospel, just like St. Leo the Great, who used his to draw people to Christ, and so we should not use our way of life to lead others astray. May the Lord bless his words in our heart through Christ our Lord. Amen.
